Salumificio Monte Arci was founded in 1991 in the small village of Is Bangius (Marrubiu, OR), as a family-run company dedicated to the processing of meat and the artisanal production of typical Sardinian cured meats.

Today the new generation carries on the family tradition and enriches it thanks to the use of new technologies and cutting-edge machinery, with the utmost respect for the typical recipes of the area.

The plant is organized into specific sectors thanks to which it is possible to carry out all stages of the production process on site, from the processing of fresh meat to the packaging of cured meats.

The real strength of the company is represented by the people: a young and dynamic team made up of 13 forces in the field who with passion and dedication maintain the high quality of the company.

Cultural Creative Attributes

The commonly perceived image of obsidian is that of a rock with an intense and homogeneous black color, so much so that in the catalogs of some industrial products it is not uncommon to use the color notation “obsidian black”. As a result of the oxidation processes of some minerals, in particular iron, obsidian can, however, acquire variously iridescent colors, including green, red, brown. The minerals present in the glassy fluid are so numerous that there is even a type of obsidian called rainbow, due to the numerous gradations of color that it returns, if adequately illuminated. The Ossidiana Gourmet line of cured meats, which contains the most exclusive products of the entire range made at the Salumificio Monte Arci in Marrubiu, deliberately recalls in the various labels the color variations that characterize the obsidian and rocks present in the volcanic massif of Monte Arci.

Playing on the visual link generated by the combination of colors, the product obtained becomes strongly representative of the uniqueness of a geological and archaeological history lasting thousands of years, which in this way reaches tables all over Europe.
