Murano Glass Coated tiles

Cultural creative features

The enchanting magic of authentic Murano glass is set like a shining gem in the wall tiles to capture the light and amaze. In a perfect harmony of opposites, the precious Murano glass inserts complete the marble, selected stone and ceramic surfaces. They create a wonderful dance of colors and shapes, in an alternation of elegant geometries, iridescent reflections and multicolored suggestions. The original glass tesserae are handcrafted with Venetian enamels and golds, made by master glassmakers, and melted in the furnaces of Murano through traditional processing techniques unique in the world.

One of the effects of the concentration of glass masters on the island of Murano, in close proximity to each other, was an exchange of techniques and ideas that quickly led to a vast expansion of glass production in Venice and significant innovations in glass processing. They are the master glassmakers who have made important scientific discoveries related to the production of glass in history: in the fifteenth century, the master Angelo Barovier discovered the processes that led to the creation of the “Venetian Crystal”, the first truly transparent glass in the world.

Another master famous for his innovations in glass production is Antonio da Pisa. In the meantime, continuous innovations have also been recorded in the field of sculpture and decoration of Murano glass. At the end of the 1600s, for example, Maestro Giuseppe Briati invented the design of the famous Murano chandelier, which still remains very valiant all over the world. The master glassmakers thus became and remained for many centuries the main producers of luxury glassware in Europe.
